About

Hi, I’m Rob, the owner and head writer, here at ChordAddict.com. I am a professional musician and teacher from Canada. I have lived and performed all over the world for the last 20 years and now reside in Sweden. I perform regularly in a number of musical settings, including: solo jazz guitar, duos, trios and Big Band. I also take most other gigs that come my way: rock, country, Irish, you name it. I have been a teacher for nearly a decade and have produced a great deal of material for my students, so I decided to share it with you.

Why a Blog on chords and comping?

I did a little survey of the free (quality) material that is available on the web. As you might expect there is an abundance of beginner material, while the intermediate and advanced concepts are sorely lacking and/or are poorly organized. I hope to fill the void and add some organization to it all. By focusing on harmony, and the correct way to learn jazz, I feel I have something a bit different to offer here. Harmony is an integral part of melody and melody of harmony. Also chord soloing is an elusive subject for guitarists. There is however no reason why we shouldn’t be able to improvise a chord solo or melody just as easy as a single-note solo.

I am a guitar player and things here may be a bit guitar biased, I do however encourage all musicians to drop by and have a look. You will hopefully find something useful.

If you like what I am up to over here and want to show your appreciation, please help me maintain this site by making a donation.

Thank you. Have fun.

Hello Rob: Congratulations and thank you very much for sharing your work with us.
I’d like to have some head transcriptions from Kenny Burrell’s “Bluesin Around” (Bye and bye, Mambo Twist, The switch). Do you accept Paypal?. I’d like to make a contribution to help support the site?
    Best wishes!

Thanks for the comment Roberto. I will check into these tunes. I really should have some Kenny Burrell represented on this site. Great suggestion. There is a paypal link on the side of the page. Don’t be alarmed if you see some Swedish text after you click it. I live in Sweden. Contributions are much appreciated. Best. Rob
